State Senate candidate Dan Laughlin issued the following statement on the criminal conviction of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane:
“Over the past two years Pennsylvanians have witnessed the spectacle of a sitting attorney general unmasked as a corrupt and vengeful political insider who placed the law far below her personal ambitions. Thankfully, we have seen that our system of law was stronger than Kathleen Kane’s corruption.
“It is outrageous that even after her criminal indictment and the suspension of her law license, Kane was permitted to remain in office, where she threatened the integrity of our Commonwealth’s highest office of law.
“This abandonment of responsibility to our citizens falls squarely on the shoulders of my opponent, Sean Wiley.
“Wiley voted against a measure that would have removed Kane and the cloud of fear and suspicion she generated that has hung over her office.”
“I call on Sean Wiley to correct his error of judgment and introduce a motion to remove Kane under Article VI, section 7, of the Pennsylvania Constitution, which permits direct removal of an elected official.”
